Welcome to The Beauty Gap

Beauty is not only skin deep, it goes far beyond the surface. Your skin is the biggest organ on the body and you want to keep it looking healthy. I graduated from Sessions Modeling school in 1991 and have pretty much been into beauty as long as I can remember. I am going to teach you what I have learned about how to apply makeup the right way, how to keep your skin looking young and healthy and how to dress for any occasion. I will give you exercise pros and cons, routines, advice and help. Subscribe to my blog for feeds and a weekly newsletter.

When I was about 10, I told a boy I knew to use alcohol on his face to get rid of his acne. It worked and cleared his face up within weeks. Little did I know, stridex would exist years later with basically the same ingredient for acne. I read everything about beauty and health and have written articles on this subject.

  • Lets start with a few facial tips: Always clean your face with warm water to open your pores in your skin. One perfect way to open your pores is to hold your head over the sink with the warm (as you can stand it without burning yourself) water running and put a towel over the top of your head so that the steam from the water stays under the towel and onto your face. Do this for a few minutes or as long as you can stand it. Its refreshing and you will feel relieved. Its like any stress you may have had escapes through your pores.

  • Now, wash your face with a gentle facial wash, such as dove. Do not use hoarse soaps on your face. It will clog up your pores. Rinse your face and start to turn the water slowly to cool, rinsing your face as you go. Keep doing this until you get it as sold as you can stand it, which will close your pores back up. This is a simple way to clean your face everyday and only takes a few minutes at best. (unless you want to steam bathe your face for a while). Now take the towel and blot dry your face. Do not scrub your face with the towel. The skin on your face is fragile and you want to keep it in great condition. Remember, This is the first thing a person sees when looking at you.

  • Next, you will want to use a gentle astringent to refresh your skin. Let this set in a few minutes and use a moisturizer. Do not use an oil based moisturizer if you have oily skin. A moisturizer will help your skin stay soft and it won't look dried out. That's beauty of it. The Sun can age your skin and the winter cold can dry your skin out. So you want to be prepared for both to protect it against both.
